Have you ever noticed how many ads of any kind had actually made you BUY?
Consider the scientists on spatial agencies, like NASA.
They are permanently sending signals to outer space based on the possibility of reaching some extraterrestrial life (assuming they would have a reason to reach back, Why would they!!?) just like in the movie Contact (good movie btw).
Well, I firmly believe that most marketers and business owners, mimic this process through their marketing, “hoping” they will reach customers that will come to their businesses, once they saw their sign.
I feel kind of sorry for both, since both scientists and business owners usually get no response back -other than crickets.
But this doesn´t have to be that way.
With the right understanding of your business, of your customers and of the channels to get your message across, you can be in complete control of your marketing, finally allowing you to attract as many customers as you choose to, even getting to qualify them so you can filter the ones you don’t.
Keep reading to learn the basic elements of marketing that will bring you as many qualified customers as you want.
First: You have to know the value that you´re giving
Your products or services fill a need in your market. Great.
However, why would they choose you? What is it that you are giving that will present you as the best solution to their needs?
The answer to that is not in you yourself being the best in your business, but in your business being the best in the way you satisfy the needs of your customer. Got the difference?
The value is about your customer, not about your business.
Once you have this clear, you can move on to start creating effective marketing.
Second: Speak their language
Once you know the actual value that you are providing to your customers, you then have to craft a message for them, so they get to know about you and your business.
You do this by including the value you provide, in their words or even slang, so they can “connect” with your business and instantly know that you can provide what they´re looking for.
This is the most critical factor to your marketing, so get to know your customers and dig deeper as to what is it that they want, but most importantly, what WORDS they use to describe their needs, wants and preferences. Knowing this will make you a master copywriter without giving all your money away to the fancy agencies and marketing “gurus”.
Third: Craft and Send your message
Finally, you get to create the message for your customers, to be used wherever your business name appears.
This includes your website, your blog posts, social media and any and all advertising. Remember, your message is about your customers, not your business. Your business gets to be the “excuse” or the means through which they will get something that they want.
Put bluntly: lay your ego, your pretty looking picture and fancy logo aside, and start talking to your customers!
They want your product, they need something that you can give, so be clear about it on all of your communications.
Once you do all of the above, you will no longer have to worry about getting customers, but how to keep them happy and manage your now hyper busy business.
